How are your plants packaged?

Plants soaked before postingAll our plants are packaged with the greatest care! Firstly, we collect all the plants from the nursery after they've had a good water the night before. All plants are sent without pots and without soil, so we take them out of their pots and remove the soil. This stops the spread of pests and diseases, and keeps roots nice and clean which reduces the risks of rot and damage. Being an online plant nursery, we package each and every plant without soil, and have become soil-less transport experts, guaranteeing your plants are in the very best hands!
We then soak all plants in seaweed solution, where appropriate for the variety of plant. Some plants, such as Dracaena draco, are only rinsed as tPlant roots wrapped uphey do not like to have their roots soaked. Most palms love a good soak, and so do most other plants like tropical foliage plants and flowering plants. In our nursery we only briefly soak plants with fleshy, rhizome-like roots such as Strelitzia (Bird of Paradise) varieties. They can easily get too wet, and do not need the big soak as they store water in their roots either way.
Seaweed solution strengthens the plants for transport, and also protects against disease. We wrap the roots in moist media such as newspaper, and wrap them in plastic tDan with packaged plantso retain moisture. We cut some plants back a bit before posting, such as Gardenia's, Azalea's and Bauhinia's, to help them retain moisture on their trip to you. It also encourages new growth and your plants will regrow very quickly.
Once wrapped up, we secure the plastic with sticky tape & a label to assist you in identifying the plant. Our nursery details, such as our phone number, are on the label aswell, to give you easy reference as to where the plant came from, and our details in case you have any questions. The name of the plant is written in pencil on the back of the label.
Plants are securely fastened in a cardboard box with sticky tape to hold it in place and prevent damage to stems and foliage. The box is filled up with shreddPacked box ready for addressinged newspaper to act as shock barrier, and the box is addressed to you and marked as ‘Live plants – do not leave in sun’.
In our nursery, we send all plants on Monday, and we do not package them more than 1 day before postage, so your plants are always fresh and in optimum condition for travel!  top of the page

All plants, unless otherwise stated, are posted via Express Post on Monday morning. Most parcels arrive at their destination overnight, on Tuesday. Places outside of main urban centres may receive their plants on Wednesday; rural areas on Thursday. Coconuts and COCOTAP will arrive on Thursday or Friday.
Sometimes we decide it is best to hold your order for another week, for example if there are public holidays holding up the postal system, or if we think the weather is not suitable.
